This is a great article from the Electronic Frontier Foundation discussing the recent decision by the Library of Congress to remove the exemption to the DMCA that existed for unlocking smart phones. Unlocking is not to be confused with “jailbreaking,” which is still perfectly legal. Don’t expect phone carriers to suddenly start suing people like the RIAA did for music downloads, but this is just another in a long string of bad law on the DMCA.
