Legendary rocker, Bruce Springsteen, has won a lawsuit over Pony Express Records regarding a competing claim over copyright control.
Springsteen originally alleged the record company released early recordings of his work without receiving his consent. As the final ruling was handed down, Pony Express Records was ordered to destroy multiple recordings.
Court documents indicate former Springsteen manager James Cretecos sold the rights to the songs to a company that apparently granted Pony Express Records licensing. Cretecos’ lawyer has yet to be reached for comment regarding this situation.
This is not Springsteen’s first incident regarding copyright infringement. In the past, Springsteen was caught up in a suit involving a midtown bar for performing his music without consent. The artist allegedly had no idea legal action was being taken, his reps stating he asked for his name to be removed immediately. Springsteen was quick to back out, citing a certain ‘misunderstanding’. It’s clear prior cases didn’t quite have the same amount of steam as the latest suit.
The latest copyright infringement case involving ‘The Boss’ is a little more cut and dry.
