Here’s a great article that I was quoted in recently about a cybersquatting case involving the University of Oklahoma. It looks like OU is not very happy with a guy who wants to use the phrase “soonernetwork.com.” An interesting case no doubt, but I think it’s going to be a tough road for the defendant. The interesting part of the case is that the word “Sooner” is not a term that is unique to the University, like say “Sun Devils” would be to Arizona State. But it looks like there may have been some bad faith reasons the defendant registered the domain, which is going to make it tough on him to win the case.
